Rwandan officials have urged African countries to strengthen unity and self-reliance in tackling security and development challenges facing the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The call was made during an annual conference organized by the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College in partnership with the University of Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussions centered on two major topics: foreign interference in African affairs and Africa\u2019s opportunities for sustainable development through natural resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rwanda\u2019s Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda, said the continent\u2019s security challenges demand coordinated action among African states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He referenced the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, saying the international community failed Rwanda during one of its darkest moments, proving that countries must prioritize protecting themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marizamunda said Rwanda\u2019s transformation under Paul Kagame demonstrates the importance of leadership, responsibility, and long-term vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Foreign Affairs Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe echoed similar views, stating that Africa\u2019s political, economic, and military future should be shaped by Africans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He encouraged stronger cooperation among African nations to reduce dependence on external actors and prevent conflicts across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
