Muhanga, Rwanda<\/strong> \u2013 The Mayor of Muhanga District, Kayitare Jacqueline<\/strong>, has emphasized that Umuganura Day<\/strong> is not only a moment to celebrate the harvest and community achievements, but also a time to reflect on how to safeguard resources for the future<\/strong> and intensify efforts toward self-reliance and development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the celebrations, Mayor Kayitare stated that when citizens work hard and attain progress, it enables the local government to focus on larger development priorities in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, public health<\/strong>, and sanitation<\/strong>. She highlighted that promoting hygiene and cleanliness is essential in preventing diseases and reducing the need for hospital visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCelebrating our achievements is important, but it\u2019s also a reminder not to consume everything at once. We must save for the future and strive to produce even more for continued development,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

She further urged leaders at all levels to champion cleanliness as a daily cultural practice<\/strong>, calling on local officials to take sanitation seriously in order to avoid setbacks caused by poor hygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focus on Agriculture: Model Farmers Called to Lead by Example<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Gilbert Nshimiyimana<\/strong>, Chairperson of the Muhanga District Council, encouraged model farmers to inspire their neighbors, stressing that community-driven agricultural excellence is key to both local and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the District\u2019s performance is directly linked to citizen engagement. For instance, Muhanga was awarded a national trophy last year for lifting over 3,000 people out of poverty<\/strong>, thanks to strong collaboration between leaders and residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
