Rwanda has launched the 2025/26 Judicial Year with a strong commitment to bringing justice closer to citizens and improving case resolution rates.

According to the Minister of Justice, efforts will continue to reduce case backlogs, which already dropped from 62% to 30% by the end of NST1 in June 2024. This year, courts aim to resolve 80% of cases, up from 60%.

The justice sector will also expand the use of Rwanda’s digital case management system (icms.gov.rw), which has been upgraded based on user feedback since its introduction in 2016.

Strengthening courts and empowering judicial staff remain top priorities to ensure timely justice and effective dispute resolution.
