During a meeting with Rwanda’s National Consultative Forum of Political Organizations, Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe said Rwanda’s protective measures will remain in place as long as the FDLR rebel group continues to threaten regional security. He accused some foreign actors of attempting to undermine Rwanda, saying the country’s sovereignty must be respected.

Minister Nduhungirehe praised Rwanda’s growing global reputation, citing 47 embassies abroad, but criticized the DRC for ignoring peace accords and escalating violence against Congolese Tutsi and Banyamulenge. He also faulted the UN for failing in 1994 and for still working with groups linked to genocide perpetrators.

On the European Parliament’s resolution calling for the release of Victoire Ingabire, Nduhungirehe described it as political interference. He insisted that Rwandan justice is impartial and applies equally to all citizens. FPR Inkotanyi Secretary General Gasamagera Wellars and several MPs condemned the EU decision, saying it disregards Rwanda’s legal system and unity principles.
