Mukanemeye Madeleine, widely known as “Mama Mukura”, passed away on the morning of Sunday, July 3, 2025, at the age of over 100.

She was a long-time resident of Gisagara District and had been battling illness for some time. After receiving treatment at CHUB Hospital in Huye District, she had been discharged to continue recovery at home. Sadly, on Sunday morning, she was rushed back to the hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Mama Mukura was a beloved and passionate supporter of Mukura Victory Sports, a football club based in Huye. Her devotion to football was unmatched — rarely missing a match — and she was also a loyal fan of Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi.

Her passing has deeply saddened football lovers across the Southern Province and the broader Rwandan sports community.
