The Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC/M23) has accused opposing forces of launching drone strikes and ground offensives in Minembwe, South Kivu Province.

According to spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka, the alleged attacks occurred in the early hours of February 20, 2026, and resulted in civilian deaths. He described the operations as spreading fear among local communities.

Minembwe lies in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, an area marked by longstanding insecurity involving multiple armed factions and state forces.

At the time of reporting, Congolese authorities had not publicly addressed the allegations. Independent verification of the claims was not immediately available.

Human rights groups have frequently raised concerns about civilian protection in the region, where repeated clashes have worsened humanitarian conditions.
