Ugandan religious leaders offered special prayers for Janet Museveni during the inauguration ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni.
The Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Uganda asked God to heal the First Lady and continue guiding the Museveni family.
The ceremony featured military displays, national symbols, and political celebrations dominated by yellow, the signature color of Uganda’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). President Museveni wore a white shirt, black trousers, black shoes, and his well-known khaki hat.
Following a 15-minute military parade, Uganda’s national flag was lowered to signal the completion of the previous NRM term before Museveni officially began another five-year mandate.
Museveni secured re-election in January with 71.6% of the vote and is expected to remain president until 2031.
His son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, played a visible role during the ceremony, standing beside the president during military demonstrations.
Rwanda’s delegation at the event was led by Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva.
